| With nearly two dozen former law clerks for state and federal court judges in Louisiana and Texas, two former bankruptcy judges, former and current law professors, and a contributing author of the Louisiana Appellate Practice Handbook, Gordon Arata’s lawyers are uniquely qualified to successfully handle their clients’ appeals in both the federal and Texas and Louisiana state court systems. Our appellate practice group draws lawyers from the various substantive practice groups of the firm. By doing so, we ensure that the appellate practice group has the depth necessary to handle even the most novel issues effectively and provides a nimble resource for our clients’ post-trial concerns. While we often represent clients in the appeals of matters that we have handled at the trial level, we also frequently handle appeals for clients represented by other firms in trial courts. Our appellate services include:
- preparing post-verdict motions
- reviewing the trial record
- analyzing and researching legal issues
- developing the appeal strategy
- preparing appellate briefs, including amicus briefs
- presenting oral arguments
- preparing post-argument motions
Gordon Arata handles appellate advocacy with the same professionalism, sensitivity, and commitment that marks all of our work, making the appellate process a better over-all experience for our clients.
